Project Overview
Anglo American is digitalising their entire company by developing a suite called Voxel. As a UX designer with a central UX team of over 30 designers, I developed the usability testing and research standards for over 20 products.
My Contributions
As well as research and design, I created an automated user testing system which shares live results to dashboards across multiple teams. This allows us to work more efficiently and to build products that people love.

"Laura has brought her immense talent and creativity to our diverse product teams. She is a quick learner and integrated rapidly into our fast-paced environment. It was a great opportunity to collaborate with her. Her expertise in conducting usability testing and understanding various usability metrics to measure product performance were strong assets to our product development cycle. I am convinced that any team working with her would greatly benefit from her skills. On a personal level, it was extremely easy and pleasant to engage with her. I would definitely recommend her both for her professional and personal qualities."

Starting with the basics. Who, what and why.
My design process started with defining the brand and its target audience. This sets the foundation for the final product. During this phase, I brainstorm around the company and product at the highest level with stakeholders. The project brief defines the who, what, when, where, and why. I like to actively communicate the main objectives and goals, high-level scope, timings and the processes that will be used to manage the project.
Stage 1
Build empathy, uncover problems.
During my research process, I set up interviews and surveys to find out business goals, users' needs and frustrations. Creating User Journeys, Personas, Competitor Analysis and Personas is one of my favourite parts of the UX design process.

Understand the context.
Next, I drew insights from data collected during the research phase, moving from “what” users want, think and need to “why” they want, think and need it. During this phase, I confirmed that my team’s most important assumptions are correct by reviewing findings, creating high-level user stories and storyboarding.
Open your minds up to deeper exploration.
My ideation phase is guided by the insights that were defined during the planning and research phase. Ideation is about exploring and identifying potential solutions, including early concept, Low-Fi designs, Data discovery, IA and early concept testing.

Visual Exploration.
Next, I explored the app's overall look or product. I created different page mock-ups using the same layout but different styles. Taking this route instead of creating mood boards helps communicate different directions we can take more vividly as the team and client can clearly see the impact each direction would have. A/B testing and usability testing helps me to make human-centred decisions and gain user insights.
